Taking it One Day At A Time – August 2010

I’ve successfully finished the month of August in my project 365! I started project 365 again this year for the third year in a row. In previous years, I would lose motivation around July and for the remainder of the year I would take filler photos. I told myself that I would only allow that to happen for one month this year. Well… it happened for two, but I decided to push on and keep at it. I like the photos I’ve taken in August and it has been a great month. Technically, I didn’t post August 31st, but I’ve decided to just post the entire month as with previous month posts and include the last shot.

Without further adieu, here is August!  You can find slideshows of this month and previous months on my Taking it One Day At A Time page.

TODAT-120100828.jpgWhat’s with the Camera?

I was taking shots for Vicki and Gary’s guestbook at their wedding and Eddie had the best look on his face when I pointed the camera at him.

Sometimes, you get so excited about the dessert that you might not pay attention to when the dessert is no longer on your serving utensil…

Not Really Sure.jpg

Not really sure…

More from the wedding but this time it’s personal. A friend of ours volunteered to take shots of us with my setup for the guestbook. So we took a few. I like this one personally, but Becca thinks it’s creepy. I’m not sure why…

Here’s a better one that isn’t going to be a part of my project 365.

Hiking in Bragg Creek with the Friends

I wanted to make a special mention about the hike I did with my friends last saturday. It was a lot of fun and I got some really fun shots! I’ve put a slideshow below as well as some wideratures I grabbed that day. You can see the rest of my wideratures at the following link Widerature.

One Very busy week… I’ll let the photos do the speaking as I’m not much for words today

Elbow Falls and Friends.jpgElbow Falls and Friends

Alright, maybe I will say a few words. My friends and I decided to go for a hike out around Bragg Creek. We ended up at Elbow Falls and stayed for some sunset shots. I decided to mess around with my strobist equipment. I’m quite happy with this shot.

What I came home to.jpgWhat I came home to…

Apparently a hailstorm hit my neighborhood on the 21st. It was only as I was walking into my house on the 22nd did I notice the damage. My entire garden is destroyed!

Stretch.jpgStretch

I was on my back, stretching my shoulder when I saw this shot. The light and the way I was stretching, coupled with the wide angle lens made it kind of weird.

Rays of Sunshine.jpgRays of Sunshine

There is a lot of smoke from the BC forest fires in Calgary right now. It’s not completely unwelcome. It allowed me to zoom into the sun and take this shot without worrying about burning my eyes out.

The smoke is doing some interesting things with the light in Calgary. The lighting is from a street lamp but it allowed me to get some contrast on the shot naturally.
