This was a longer delay between photo postings than I would have liked but such is life.
Last week, I found out I was going to be flying down to Richland Center, Wisconsin for a business trip. If you have no idea where that is, neither do I (I still don’t. I should really look that up on a map).

Shouldn’t Be Driving
So, Monday night rolls around and I’m scrambling to do last minute packing and driving up North to sleep at my fiancee’s place (closer to the airport). After the long day I had, I decided to take this photo while driving to try and get sense of how tired I felt. Don’t worry, this exposure was only a second and yes people shouldn’t be doing this sort of thing!

I Stayed at The White House
I got up early and drove to the airport. Getting through immigration and security was a breeze (compared to last time, but that is another story). It’s a 3 hour flight over to Minneapolis and then an hour flight over to Madison, Wisconsin. Wisconsin was humid and hot! I could feel my asthma acting up and I was happy to get into an air conditioned rental car. From Madison to Richland Center, it is a 2 hour drive. The drive was interesting. Madison is a university city. I had no idea what that meant until I drove through downtown. Almost everyone on the street appeared to be student or a professor and a quarter of downtown was designated as University Campus. It’s a surreal sight; at least it was for me. The drive out to Richland was scenic. Wisconsin’s main industries are farming and cheese making. Along the single lane country highway I could see a lot of beautiful farms and varying landscapes of lush greens to rows and rows of corn.
Richland itself is a tiny town. There was a walmart supercentre as the main shopping I would say, and it’s only about 10 city blocks big. When I booked my trip, I had booked into the Ramada Inn for the night. I was a little surprised when I pulled up to the White House as shown in the above photo. Apparently this was the original design of the hotel when the Ramada conglomerate bought the place and they haven’t changed it since. Walking into the main lobby sort of resembles the white house as well. There are portraits of all the past presidents lining the walls. It had been an interesting trip so far after all…

Richland Center, Wisconsin
Today was an extremely long day. I got up early (because of the time change) jogged, had breakfast, and made my way over the factory shown above. I spent the remainder of the day until 3pm over here. It turned out that there were quite a few things to do for work and I’m glad I came down. I then drove the 2 hours back and flew back to Calgary with delayed flights. I didn’t make it home until 1 am.
From my brief time in Wisconsin, I have to say it was a beautiful place. Although I’m sure, I’m the first east indian person people had ever seen in Richland Center, they were very nice to me and polite. They are good people. I’m not sure if I’d ever go out of my way to make it back to Richland for a personal vacation, but I’m glad to experience it.
Bedtime
August 12, 2010
I flew in this morning from Wisconsin, got up and went to work, and spent a lovely evening with the nice folks at the Little Tea Temple in Kensington. It had been a long day. I drove up to see Becca and the guest room she was staying in at her nana’s place has this jester sitting on a stool right beside the bed. We were chatting and looking over, I saw the jester. I knew it was time to end my long day. I’m not sure how the jester conveyed that, but who knows how a lot of things happen.
