Looking at this chap makes me want to sing Lazy Sunday by Lonely Island.

I had some friends over for a board game afternoon. We made heavily cheese laden nachos and also drank lots of Grizzly Paw Root Beer. The board game we played is Arabian Nights, which I would highly recommend!

Taking it One Day At A Time – July 2011

It feels good to be taking photos for the fun of it again. I had my hesitations about getting back into photography; especially after a 6 month break. To top it off, I figured I would do it in Frank style by giving myself more of a challenge than simply easing back into photography by shooting only with an iPhone 4 or the SLR with a 50mm f1.8 lens. I ended up using the iPhone rarely and I can honestly say I suck using it! My friends Tay and Braden are much more savvy with it than I am. You can view their stuff here Tay Flickr and here Braden Flickr.

I enjoyed using the 50mm f1.8 and it is an incredible lens. It really forces you to think hard for your shot. Personally I enjoy the flexibility my 18-200mm gives me, but I think I’ve been sold on prime lenses. I’d like to get an assortment of them and hopefully a full frame camera to go along with them!

So here are what I hope are 31 unique photos from the month of July. It was a month that was all over the map mainly due to the incredibly strange schedule that wedding planning forces you to have. As always, thanks for stopping by! You can view a slideshow of the month of July on my Taking it One Day At A Time – 2011 page.

I tried my hand at painting.jpgI Tried Painting

I was up at Nose Creek park and was trying to figure out how I could best utilize the 50mm f1.8 for a city shot. After a couple of frustrating attempts I realized the best thing about the 50mm is it’s ability for sweet sweet bokeh!

Incense from Bali and an incense holder from Mysore India. This is the perfect way to get rid of the smell of rotting potatoes in your fridge. It is also a good way to unwind.

Midnight Drive.jpgMidnight Drive

This was the latest I had stayed up in a while. We spent a late night at the Taj Mahal restaurant sorting out our reception buffet items. To be honest I’m not sure I should have been driving…

Olivia.jpgOlivia

I sense you are always there watching me. We met in a forest not too long ago and then you decided that you’d like to follow me home. Your presence became intimidating and so I asked you to leave and yet I still catch glimpses of you. You haven’t truly left have you? Someday I’ll have the courage to let you in again. Until then, let’s continue this dance of knowing yet not knowing.

There’s nothing like unwinding with a good book on a comfortable chair in beautiful light covered in a warm shawl.

Yummy Crepe-4.jpgYummy Crepe-4

Becca and I had breakfast with Tay and Braden at the farmer’s market. I waited anxiously as my crepe was being prepared. I had eggs, bacon, and ham… All locally produced! This was incredibly delicious and salty…
